ABOUT WEBSITE

Hello and Welcome!
I’m Mares Rmo

This website is a WORK-IN-PROGRESS and a huge undertaking. So if you notice something missing, it’s probably because I haven’t gotten to it yet.

This website is about Gia Carangi’s life, career and brief history on this Earth.

This is NOT a social group.
This is a project to post researched and verified information from multiple sources.
My vision for the website is something like a Gia Encyclopedia – Wikipedia … but MUCH, MUCH better.

****UPDATE: Subscriptions and comments have been disabled until further notice due to the scammers and spammers that were taking up too much of my time. ****
COMMENTS are welcome, but you must register to comment due to the damn SPAMers that love to attack websites. I will not sell your information, collect your information for any purpose. This is not the arena for debate, keep that activity to social pages.

My name is Mares Rmo and I’m the owner/author/admin of this website.

US Cosmopolitan magazine, April 1979 by photographer Francesco Scavullo. Gia's first major fashion magazine covers were in April 1979 and there were THREE! This one, Vogue UK 04/79, and Vogue Paris 04/79.

My first introduction to Gia was the April 1979 issue of Cosmopolitan (US) magazine, when I was 16-year-old high school girl.

I have been a member Gia Carangi internet fan groups since there was such a thing.
But this website is not about me.

During the Covid19 Self-Quarantine that started March 11, 2020, I returned to my on again, off again obsession of looking for new photos of Gia.
Meanwhile, on my Facebook Gia groups, newbies come in asking all kinds of questions… which is GREAT!
However, trying to remember where I found the information that they requested repeatedly turned into a massive treasure hunt, “now where did I save that?”
Sometimes I’d burn up 4+ hours just looking for the info or confirming it.

Late one night, I just started cataloguing all the data/media that I have and have seen/read on Gia.

I am not a professional writer, nor have I taken any journalism type courses. I will make mistakes, and I will learn from them. I will do my best to post all my sources, but somethings I can’t remember where I found them.

I want this website to serve as a time capsule for the history of
Gia Carangi’s life here on Earth.

I named the website “Gia Carangi Live Here” because as a kid in the 70s I was a free-range kid with little supervision. My friends and would walk all over the city I grew up in. In Jr High School, my friends and I smoked Marlboros and found our secret hang out places. I lived in Minnesota and lived next to a bridge. We were able to climb the cement pilings under the bridge and hang out, smoke cigs and scratch our names “Cindy K was here 1973” “Mares was here 1974”. That’s the way it was back then, all us kids leaving our marks for history of our existence. I feel like Gia and her friends probably did some of those things in addition to dropping pickles on top of peoples’ heads from the window of the apartment above her father’s hoagie shop .. lol
This website is to remember that Gia was here for many, many years to come.
