Harry King took many candids and tests shots of Gia and these un-published photos of her are among the best shots of Gia ever taken.
Tuesday, February 5, 1980 Gia left JFK airport for a week on the Caribbean island of St. Barts. This shoot was booked for US Vogue with Francesco Scavullo photographer, Sean Byrnes Scavullo’s assistant and Partner, Harr King hair, Way Bandy makeup, Kim Alexis and Jeff Aquilon models. Scavullo’s photos were published in the 1980 May and 1980 July issues. These are Harry King’s candid shots of Gia.

On the island of St. Barts. Gia wearing a black top and the infamous jeans that Scavullo borrowed from Gia for Diana Ross to wear in a photo shoot.
This series of photos were taken as test shots for Sandy’s book “Disco Beauty”.
Photographer and hair by Harry King, makeup Sandy Linter, location: Harry’s apartment and his infamous sofa. Sandy ultimately chose Scavullo’s magnificent photo for the book, but Harry’s photos could have been used equally.
